** SPECIAL REPORT** NEW ROH WORLD CHAMPION CROWNED

Well, I was watching Inception when I got the bulletin: An impromptu FATAL 4 Way match was made at the ROH TV tapings in Fairfax, VA featuring Cody, Jay Lethal, Matt Taven, and Dalton Castle!!!!! And ROH decided to stream the match on Honor Club. So, I paused the movie, turned on Honor Club, and am providing the following report... Four Way Match for the ROH World Championship Dalton Castle (c) (w/The Boys) vs. Cody (with Brandi and Burnard) vs. Jay Lethal vs. Matt Taven Matt Taven is out first, followed by Jay Lethal.  Cody comes out with Brandi Rhodes and Burnard The Business Bear. Then out comes Dalton Castle with The Boys!!! The poor dude is still walking stiff coming down the steps into the ring. A LOT of empty seats in this arena. Wow. They can't even show a view of the arena without empty seats being shown. Not a good sign. Nice back and forth between Lethal and Cody to start it off. Dalton is on the outside while Taven comes in for a little action with Lethal. Cody a

My Top 5 Super Heavyweights

What makes a great "Super-Heavyweight?" Super-Heavyweights are different from giants in the perspective that these are BIG guys not based on height but weight. I decided to make a list of "Super-Heavyweights" that included the best BIG men in wrestling. For the record, I have eliminated giants such as Andre, Big Show, or the Giant Gonzalez (not that he'd make the list anyways). I'm looking at the guys who surpassed the normal definition of a heavyweight and contributed the most in their role. So, without further ado, a short 5-person list of the best "Super-Heavyweights" in wrestling history in my opinion. 5) Earthquake- In the 1990s, there were several great big men in wrestling. Earthquake was an instant hit when he debuted in WWF. After a few months in the undercard, he moved to main event level for a program with Hulk Hogan and his future Natural Disaster partner, Tugboat (Typhoon). From there, Earthquake shifted into a program with Jake Robe

Best in the World 2018 Live Thoughts

Live Updates throughout the show. As each match finishes, I'll be posting the results, key moments, and other thoughts about the match. Refresh every so often to see if any new information has been added. According to their Facebook Live show earlier today, they've supposedly doubled their biggest crowd ever in Baltimore for this show. So, this is going to be a big, hot crowd for what should be a great show. Ok. Here we go. LIVE from Baltimore, MD. It's Best in the World. Remember, I'll update this as soon as each match is over. Generic opener about proving who is The Best in the World and going over each of the big matches. Nice looking crowd for an ROH show here. 1) ROH Six Man Tag Team Championship EVIL, SANADA, and Bushi vs. The Kingdom (c) A heavy amount of streamers welcome LIJ as they enter the ring, and a fair amount of streamers welcome The Kingdom into the ring as well. Crowd isn't too hot into this match at the beginning. It seems as if the

UnWrest Review: King of the Ring 1998

This week marks the 20th Anniversary of the King of the Ring 1998 PPV. Everybody remembers it for the Hell in a Cell match, but it also has a First Blood match between Stone Cold and Kane for the WWF Championship. We also get the King of the Ring tournament featuring a current movie icon, the guy who created TNA, and two UFC legends. Plus we get a match in which Al Snow teams up with a mannequin head in a tag team match. It's the Attitude Era folks. And I'm watching this full show for the first time in maybe about a decade. With that in mind, let's get to it. - I've forgotten how much I missed the old Attitude Era opening for WWF. A real dramatic opening with Classy Freddie Blassie reading off big phrases like "Revelation" and "Book of 3:16" hyping up the First Blood match and "The Sins of Mankind" and "Hell on Earth" for the Hell in a Cell match. "Dear God, have mercy on their souls." Yeah, especially Mick Foley'

UnWrest #3- WWE & ROH TV Reviews, Two Rewinds, and a Podcast and Book Recommendation

Welcome to the weekly UnWrest main blog of the week. This week, I'm covering the regular WWE TV shows, the go-home show for ROH before their PPV Friday, giving you 2 Rewinds this week (I'll explain why below), providing your weekly podcast recommendtion, and (attached to that) a book recommendation. So, without further ado, let's get this blog going. WWE/NXT Raw Thoughts - Kurt Angle and Baron Corbin, the Bald Eagles of Raw, come out. Baron Corbin directs the announcer to announce him as "The Guy Who Is Still Shockingly Employed by WWE." Roman Reigns comes out to say "I'm The Guy Who Is Only Here To Get Paid. What are my lines again?" Lashley comes out to say "Remember my sisters? Dang it. I wasn't supposed to bring that back up." Ok. Serious face time. Lashley says Roman needed to move on after 3 years of failing. Roman says Lashley moved on and failed ten years ago. Roman has been here every day, dang it, and he wants his title

ROH Best in the World 2018 Predictions

(Disclaimer: I have not seen the ROH TV show as of 6/27/18. Therefore, the following predictions are based on the card as of that date.) Three-Way Match for the ROH World Championship Dalton Castle (c) vs. Cody vs. Marty Scurll - Here's where your title change of the night takes place. Castle has been battling some lingering injuries, and I think he's done enough with the title to hold his head high. But here's where it gets tricky: Cody and Nick Aldis have already agreed to have an NWA World Championship match at the big All In event in September. But if Cody wins the ROH World Championship, the match becomes Title For Title, Winner Takes All. So, it seems like a no-brainer to have Cody win the title to defend it against Aldis at his own event, right? Enter Marty Scurll, The Villain. Marty has been embroiled with Cody in a feud over the title with odd moments of tension between the two. And of course, Marty has been involved in this whole Bullet Club Civil War thing goin

WWE UK Championship Tournament Day 2 (WWE Network Coverage- 6/26/18)

Well, the tournament is officially over after yesterday with Zack Gibson winning the thing. Now, it's time for the title match against Pete Dunne. Plus, WWE is billing this as a glorified NXT TakeOver show with NXT talent performing in London. I'm anxious to see all of this plus any clues for the new NXT UK brand. Like yesterday, I'm going to just post my live thoughts as the show goes on. So, here we go... - A recap of yesterday's show plays at the start of the show with a discussion of NXT being involved and a preview of tonight's championship match. The NXT theme and opening video even play us in... and Mauro and Nigel go over the card to start the show. 1) NXT Tag Team Championship Match Mustache Mountain (Seven and Bate) vs. The Undisputed Era (O'Reilly and Strong) (c) - O'Reilly playing Air Guitar on the championship belt is one of the funniest heel things in wrestling today. - No ADAM COLE BAY BAY at ringside. - NXT ring ropes and attire are u

WWE UK Championship Tournament- Day 1 (WWE Network Broadcast-6/25/18)

Welcome. Again, I'll be posting my live thoughts as I watch the UK Tournament. I have no idea who a lot of these wrestlers are. So, this is definitely an uninitiated American perspective on some of these British wrestlers. So here we go... - Seeing The Royal Albert Hall brings back memories of seeing The British Bulldog win that battle royal back in 1991 (it's on the WWE Network now under the WWE Home Video collection). - Mauro Ranallo and Nigel McGuinness are calling the show. And we already get a Mamma Mia chant. I'm going to like this show. Quarter-Final Matches 1) Zack Gibson vs. Jack Gallagher - Damn the architecture of Royal Albert Hall adds a lot to the atmosphere of the show. - I'm getting the idea that Zack Gibson is someone I'm supposed to boo according to the audience. So... GO ZACK GIBSON!!!! Lol. Wasn't Gallagher playing a villain in 205 Live? I'm seriously asking. I haven't watched the show since Neville was champion. - Good technical

Update for the Week

Well, folks, let's try this again where I don't post my day job as a title and a website link! Lol. What can I say: The Young Bucks and The Golden Lovers are wrestling on TV. Awesomeness sometimes can be distracting. Anyways, I had planned to cover the Kizuna Road tour during the weekend, but I'm not seeing any new shows on NJPW World. So, I am going to scrap doing those from what I'm watching. So this week, I am going to post the following: WWE UK Tournament coverage Nights 1 and 2 UnWrest #3- WWE, ROH, NXT TV Reviews, Rewind, Podcast Recommendation, and News Best in the World 2018 Predictions and Reaction Posts (assuming no problems happen with ROH's streaming service which has been known to happen) Discussion #2- Best "Big Men" in Wrestling (excluding "giants") By the end of the month, I'll be posting my best of the half year post as well. Thank you all again for checking out the page. Leave comments on the posts or guestbo

UnWrest Discussion Vol. 1- Best Tag Teams #4- Best Tag Teams of 1990-2018 Overall

Well, here it is: The final list of greatest tag teams in the last 28 years. Again, before I get started, I want to emphasize what I'm using to evaluate the best teams: longevity, impact on the business, match quality, crowd reaction, and ability to stand out, among other things. Again, like the last blog, I'm sure this is going to be controversial. But I stand by it. You will notice that a lot of teams were left behind on my list, and a couple teams actually either dropped or raised higher in their overall ranking between lists. I'll try to explain as the list continues. My Top Ten Tag Teams of the 1990s 1. The New Age Outlaws 2. Steiner Brothers 3. The Outsiders 4. Harlem Heat 5. Legion of Doom 6. The Dudley Boys 7. Hollywood Blondes 8. The Nasty Boys 9. The Quebecers 10. Money Inc. My Top Tag Teams of the 2000s 1. The Dudley Boyz 2. The Hardy Boyz 3. Edge and Christian 4. Beer Money Inc. 5. Jeri-show 6. Booker T/Goldust 7. Los Guerreros 8. Miz and Morrison 9. The Wo
