WWE Royal Rumble 2019 Predictions

It's time to Rumble! IT'S TIME FOR THE ROYAL RUMBLE!

For wrestling fans of a certain age, this will likely be the theme that plays in their mind as Vince McMahon reads off the names in that classic Vince voice: "SETH ROLLLINS! DREW MCINTYRRRE! RRR-TRUTH! BOBBY LASHLEYYY!" You get the idea. Lol.

That's right, ladies and gentlemen. We have arrived at my favorite event of the calendar year: The Royal Rumble. This promises to be a big event for the company as it comes from a large baseball stadium in Phoenix, Arizona. Also, there are a TON of possibilities going into this event and nothing is truly set in stone in terms of WrestleMania. That, coupled with the Rumble concept, makes this one of the most exciting events in recent memory.

Pre-Show

WWE Cruiserweight Championship
Buddy Murphy (c) vs. Akira Tozawa vs. Hideo Itami vs. Kalisto

I don't see Buddy Murphy losing the title yet. Then again I'm not a regular viewer of 205 Live. (Then again, who is? I kid.)

Prediction: Buddy Murphy

WWE United States Championship
Rusev (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

This feud just sort of fell off the face of the earth after having a few weeks of build around the beginning of the year. I doubt Rusev loses his title on a pre-show. So, as much as I would like to see Shinsuke regain the gold, I'm going with Rusev to retain.

Prediction: Rusev

Main Show

1) SmackDown Tag Team Championships
The Bar(c) vs. The Miz and Shane McMahon

Before last week, I thought we were heading for a classic "Owen kicking Bret" moment between Shane and Miz. But after SmackDown's segment from Tuesday, I'm thinking Miz and Shane are going to win the Tag Team Championships to have at least a short run with them before any potential feud breaks out. Sorry SmackDown Tag Team Division. You were too good for your own good apparently.

Prediction: Miz and Shane McMahon

2) Universal Championship
Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Finn Balor

It's going to take an outside force to help Finn Balor win over Brock Lesnar. Vince doesn't believe in Balor in a worked and real way. So, I can't believe he gets more than a token 2 1/2 count on Lesnar to try to save face. If Strowman interferes, then it might happen. Otherwise, the "Wee Little Man" who was told to dress in a playhouse by Baron Corbin several months ago is going to the deep undercard of WrestleMania.

Prediction: Brock Lesnar

3) Raw Women's Championship
Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Sasha Banks

I know the internet is buzzing over the talk that Rousey is leaving after WrestleMania to go have a family. Well, that's just great for her honestly. But I don't see how people think this means Sasha Banks is going to just beat her. Ronda is only losing at one place this year: the main event of WrestleMania. Bottom line.

Prediction: Ronda Rousey

4) SmackDown Women's Championship
Asuka(c) vs. Becky Lynch

Now, THIS is a hard match for me to predict. Option A: I can see Becky Lynch regaining her championship in order to set up some sort of Triple Threat match at WrestleMania involving Charlotte, Becky, and Ronda Rousey. Option B: I can see Asuka somehow winning the match, and Becky Lynch inserting herself into the Royal Rumble to earn her shot at Ronda Rousey's Raw Women's Championship at WrestleMania. Poor Asuka is an afterthought in this whole process as this match is clearly about which way they are going to book Becky. I'm going with Option A for now.

Prediction: Becky Lynch

5) WWE Championship
Daniel Bryan (c) vs. AJ Styles

Personally, I would love to see Styles lose this match and win the Rumble to earn a shot at Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. But I don't see that actually happening. How can Daniel Bryan not win this match given how over he has gotten that heel character? He is absolutely on fire at this moment as "The Planet's Champion," and I can see him having that championship into WrestleMania for a match high on the card.

Prediction: Daniel Bryan

6) Men's Royal Rumble Match

Barring the usual surprises, I think this match comes down to Seth Rollins being the winner. He's been built on Raw the last few weeks as someone on a journey to achieve something for his former Shield brother, Roman Reigns, as well as himself. I'm predicting Seth is going to "burn it down" on this match.

My "Dark Horse" Pick is the scenario I actually would like to see: AJ Styles inserting himself into this match and winning the Rumble to face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania in a co-main event match. That's a match I think the fans want to see again. But Seth vs. Brock would be just as engaging as well with a couple months worth of build.

My "Dark Horse" Pick: AJ Styles
Actual Prediction: Seth Rollins

7) Women's Royal Rumble Match

If I'm predicting Becky Lynch to regain the SmackDown Women's Championship, I think you can basically fill in the blanks on where this prediction goes next. As if she needs another notch on her belt, Charlotte Flair is going to win her first Royal Rumble and go on to be inserted into a Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania involving Becky and Ronda.

However, I reserve the "Dark Horse" Pick for my Option B from earlier: Becky loses to Asuka and enters the Rumble to win and face Ronda in a straight-up 1 on 1 match at WrestleMania.

My "Dark Horse" Pick: Becky Lynch
Actual Prediction: Charlotte Flair

WWE Evolution Predictions + Thoughts on An Underpromoted All-Women PPV

Credit: WWE WWE Evolution Promotional Poster This should feel like a bigger deal. After all, this is the first time ever that an All-Women PPV is taking place under the WWE corporate umbrella. But WWE has done a great job of completely killing the show with an uninspired card, lack of promotion, lack of interest overall, and finding a million different other things to promote to undermine the event. Still, some fans (like myself) want to give the women their due and hope to enjoy this show. Here's a rundown of the card and my predictions for each match: 1) Raw Women's Championship: Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Nikki Bella If this goes longer than 5 minutes, it's definitely too long. As good as Nikki can be in the ring (at times), Rousey should just absolutely massacre her. The only ways to prolong this match in a realistic way would be 1) an injury angle or 2) Twin Magic with Brie interfering. Otherwise, this should be short and awesome. Prediction: Ronda Retains 2)...

WWE TLC 2018 Review- Tables and Ladders and Chairs, Oh My!

HERE WE GO!    Pre-Show   1) WWE Cruiserweight Championship   Buddy Murphy (champ) vs. Cedric Alexander   They started this match early. Apparently, they wanted just as many fans in the arena as there usually are in 205 Live matches for this to give it the authentic feel.   The bell rings. A lot of tie-ups and switches to start up the match to a good reaction from the crowd. A Loud 205 Chant. Alexander takes down Murphy to the floor. Really good back and forth action here with both men moving quickly. Alexander catches Murphy with a dropkick for a 2 count. BIG KNEE to the head of Alexander sends him to the floor. Murphy flies off the top rope and hits a Meteora (maybe that’s what they were going for?) for a 2 count. Murphy has the advantage for a few moments, including a power choke on the corner on Alexander. He jumps off it to eat a SUPERKICK to the chest. Crowd seems invested in the matc...

WWE Super Show-Down 2018 Review: Last Time Ever Delivers + Some Other Solid Matches

Another big show in the WWE this year will happen today as WWE comes from Melbourne, Australia in front of 70,000 people. A lot of big matches are happening here. Let's Do This! No Pre-Show today. It's straight to the show. The new WWE opening takes place, and we get a WWE video package putting over the show and the LAST TIME EVER match. It looks like the Raw Announce Team will be calling the show. We go to the arena, and they've already spent more money on fireworks than they have for WWE programming this year. 70,309 in attendance. For once, the entrance way is understated. 1) SmackDown Live Tag Team Championship The Bar vs. The New Day (c) I wonder if Vince/WWE Management is ordering people to run the aisle tonight. Both tag teams were doing that coming to the ring.  Nice back and forth action with Kingston and Cesaro, along with Woods after getting the tag. Woods and Kingston had an awesome sequence of moves to start off. The Bar a minute later catches bot...
