UnWrest (NXT, 11/28/18)- Lars Sullivan vs. Keith Lee DELIVERS!

King Kong takes on Godzilla on this edition of NXT as two giant forces of nature look to prove who is the true monster of the brand. Let's get to it!

NXT Thoughts (11/28/18)

- The first match on this show is Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan vs. The Mighty. Early on, Burch and Lorcan get The Mighty in double submissions to tease an early victory, but The Mighty are able to escape. Lorcan gets double teamed for the heat segment of the match. The announce team does a great job putting the match in context with the larger tag team division in NXT, including the War Raiders and Street Profits. Solid explosion of action between the two teams in the closing moments, including a great dive by Lorcan on The Mighty over the top rope. A really solid ending as well with Burch and Lorcan catching The Mighty off guard and getting a sneak rollup in for the victory. The Mighty jump Lorcan and Burch from behind after the match and put a beat-down on them. The Mighty get a good bit of heat from the live crowd for their actions. This could be a really good series of tag team matches for either NXT or the NXT UK brand if WWE decides to put this match on that show. Recommendations for this one if you are looking for a fun tag team match.

- Kairi Sane, Dakota Kai, and Io Shirai are in the back, declaring their desire to get revenge on The Horsewomen.

- Marcel Barthel takes on EC3 in the next match. Barthel gets a ton of heat from the crowd due to his pro-German entrance. Barthel looks a lot like Alex Wright actually. Barthel gets a lot more offense than you would expect. But 1% puts away Barthel. EC3 wins a decent little match. After the match, EC3 makes it clear that he wants revenge on Bobby Fish.

- Donovan Dijak gets a promo for a new character: Dijakovic. Ok.

- Mia Yim takes on Vanessa Borne next. Borne uses her toughness and strength to her advantage early on, striking Yim in the corner and punishing her in the center of the ring. Borne also plays off the live crowd by mocking Yim and them. Yim catches Borne in the corner and does a Suzuki arm bar over the ropes. Yim continues with a bunch of kicks and strikes. Eat Defeat! 1-2-3. Mia Yim wins. (Is that a Gail Kim reference I see there?)

- Tommaso Ciampa will be at NXT next week.

- The main event is Lars Sullivan taking on Keith Lee. Both men bounce off each other early on, and Lars LIFTS Lee up and pummels him in the corner. Lee fights back, but Lars just knocks him back down. Charging Crossbody by Lee only gets a 1. Lee does a slingshot right into the boot of Sullivan. Sullivan continues to pummel Lee in the corners. Suplex PLANT by Sullivan to Lee. Sullivan is moving quick in the ring with a sliding clothesline and a mid rope splash for a 2. (Impressive work here by Sullivan, to be honest.) Sullivan just continues to maul Lee for a couple moments before Lee is able to jump over a shoulder-diving Sullivan in the corner. Lee hits the slingshot crossbody block for a 2 count. The two men just begin trading punches and attacks in the center. POUNCE!!!!! LEE NAILS A OVER THE TOP CORKSCREW DIVE!!!! A 300lb+ sized athlete just did that. Incredible! Back in the ring, Lee gets a 2 count! Dang. Lee goes up the corner. MOONSAULT MISSES!!!! FREAK ACCIDENT!!!!!! 1-2-3! Lars Sullivan wins a much better than anticipated match between the two big men. This wasn't a match I was looking forward to seeing, but did these two just beat the hell out of each other or what?! These guys just put on a great, hard-hitting, physical match. Hopefully, we'll get this match again sometime on the main roster. In fact, this is the best match of the week in my opinion. And it is probably now my favorite 1-on-1 Lars Sullivan match at this point.

Once again, this was an easy NXT show to watch. The only match I didn't care for much was the EC3 vs. Barthel match. And even that was a good enough match to watch once. NXT is again an embarrassment of riches, and it looks like there will only be more and more talent coming in according to the rumor and innuendo out there.

Until next time, take care of yourselves. Spread some awesomeness.

WWE Stomping Grounds 2019 Review

What's up everyone, It's the sequel to WWE Super Showdown as WWE presents the first ever Stomping Grounds event. Will this be an annual thing or go the way of "Great Balls of Fire?" We'll find out later. Anyways, stay here throughout the night if you are reading live (or keep reading if you are seeing this afterwards)  as I am providing live thoughts of the show. WWE Stomping Grounds Tacoma, WA June 23, 2019 Pre-Show - A preview is shown of Dolph Ziggler vs. Kofi Kingston in a Steel Cage Match. This doesn't feel like a WWE Championship match. Rather, it feels like a Raw 2011 mid-card match for the United States Championship. And worse at that. At least 2011 had Vickie Guerrero at ringside yelling "EXCUSE ME!" - In a cool bit, Booker T is in the steel cage showing off the cage for the pre-show audience.  That was a cool visual. - Coach is so much better on the Kickoff Panel than he ever was behind the announce table. If WWE does ge...

WWE TLC 2018 Review- Tables and Ladders and Chairs, Oh My!

HERE WE GO!    Pre-Show   1) WWE Cruiserweight Championship   Buddy Murphy (champ) vs. Cedric Alexander   They started this match early. Apparently, they wanted just as many fans in the arena as there usually are in 205 Live matches for this to give it the authentic feel.   The bell rings. A lot of tie-ups and switches to start up the match to a good reaction from the crowd. A Loud 205 Chant. Alexander takes down Murphy to the floor. Really good back and forth action here with both men moving quickly. Alexander catches Murphy with a dropkick for a 2 count. BIG KNEE to the head of Alexander sends him to the floor. Murphy flies off the top rope and hits a Meteora (maybe that’s what they were going for?) for a 2 count. Murphy has the advantage for a few moments, including a power choke on the corner on Alexander. He jumps off it to eat a SUPERKICK to the chest. Crowd seems invested in the matc...

WCW Spring Stampede 1994 Review- WCW At Its Best + Flair/Steamboat In Another Classic

It's WCW in early 1994. We're now working up the hype for the eventual debut of Hulk Hogan to the company. This seems like the final last gasp of what WCW was prior to Hogan's debut with the company. Tonight, we are getting WCW World Champion Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat 5 years after their classic feud (covered on UnWrest Focus earlier). We are also getting International World Champion Ravishing Rick Rude vs. Sting. We also have Steve Austin defending his U.S. Championship against The Great Muta! And Cactus Jack and Maxx Payne go to war with The Nasty Boys in a Chicago Street Fight. Here we go! Mean Gene Okerlund welcomes us to the show as fireworks go off. We're in the Rosemont Horizon in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. Aaron Neville sings the National Anthem holding on to as many harmonies and vowels as he can. Tony Schiavone and Bobby Heenan put over the main event. 1) Johnny B. Badd vs. Diamond Dallas Page (w/ Diamond Doll) Badd comes out dressed like ...
