All Elite Press Conference - MGM Grand in Las Vegas 2/7/19

This is the second big press conference for All Elite Wrestling. What new surprises do they have in store for us? Let's find out...

At about 8:50, I tuned into Being The Elite's YouTube channel to see a pre-show for the Ticket Sale Party. The announcers (including Conrad Thompson, who has NOTHING to do with this promotion by the way, Lol)  are talking about the talent roster already on the AEW payroll.
MJF comes over to Conrad Thompson. He calls him something I can't repeat on here. Then, he calls him poor. (Yeah. That's rich.)  He calls Conrad a "Triple D." MJF talks smack to everyone. MJF tells Conrad to go to the buffet. That way, the house will be guaranteed to lose some money.

(MJF is a good young heel. Having seen some of his stuff on MLW and the stuff he's done on Being The Elite, AEW has something with this guy.)

At 9pm, we return to the MGM Grand. The production values are a lot better than they were in Jacksonville. They talk about the open doors for AEW.

- Sonny Kiss comes out, passing out some AEW shirts. Kiss tried to throw a shirt to the other side of the pool area. It didn't make it. He tells the audience. "OOPS!" Sonny says AEW and Sonny are for everyone. Sonny will be Double or Nothing.

- Cody is welcomed to the stage. He takes the time to shake hands and take pictures with the fans on the way to the stage. Cody puts over his coat. He calls AEW a revolution. He discusses the partnership with OWE. A second partnership has been announced now with AAA out of Mexico. Cody then talks about the pre-sale for tickets. With this partnership in mind with AAA, Cody introduces Sammy Guevara, the AAA Cruiserweight Champion.  He declares himself the best wrestler in the world despite whatever AEW brings out. May 25th, he'll be at Double or Nothing.

- Hangman Page is brought out to the stage. Excalibur declares Hangman Page as "The Ace" of AEW. He jokes about not showing up in full gear because he's apparently out of shape. So, he's getting a gym membership to get back in shape. Lol. He discusses PAC's interruption of him in Jacksonville. PAC does it again via satellite this time. He calls himself a bastard. PAC loves humbling arrogant people. Page is just the first in a long line of people PAC is going to humble. PAC wants Page at Double or Nothing at May 25.  Page burns PAC, telling him that he does his best work sitting at home. It's official: PAC vs. Hangman Page at Double or Nothing.

(Awesome. That's going to be an amazing match, guaranteed. Page is such a good wrestler already at his age. And anyone with eyes on WWE TV either on NXT and WWE over the last few years know what PAC (the former Neville) can do. Whether that will be for the AEW World Championship or not remains to be seen. But this will be worth the money alone.)

-The Young Bucks are introduced next. They talk about their childhood and about wanting to be professional wrestlers. The fans calls The Young Bucks one of the top tag teams ever, and it's humbling to them. They lament about the state of tag team wrestling. They promise to deliver the best tag team division in the world. They introduce another team that will be on their roster.... BEST FRIENDS!

(WHAT?! ROH and NJPW lose another tag team here as Beretta and Chuckie have jumped to AEW. This is actually really cool news.)

Chuckie T gets on the mic and announces that they are now in AEW. Beretta and Chuckie T hug to seal the deal.

And here come the Lucha Bros.! They attack The Bucks! Superkick by Fenix to Nick Jackson! PACKAGE PILEDRIVER BY PENTAGON TO MATT JACKSON!  Fenix tells the crowd to get ready for the Lucha Bros.! They are the best tag team in the universe! Pentagon says some things in Spanish and then gives the classic "Cero Miedo" catchphrase. Matt Jackson has to be helped off stage.

(This tag team division is already better than Raw's. I think we know what The Bucks are doing on May 25th now. And again, that's a match that sells the show by itself.)

- Brandi Rhodes, the Chief Branding Officer of AEW, is introduced. Brandi asks the crowd to say "Happy Birthday" to her brother. She talks about her promises to bring the best women wrestlers to AEW. She introduces two Japanese women wrestlers: Yuka Sakazaki and Aja Kong. She does introduce someone that can be there in person: Kylie Rae. Kylie takes off her coat to reveal the dress that she bought for tonight. She can't wait to help build the company and the women's division from the ground up.
Brandi has someone else: Nyla Rose. Nyla gets in the face of Kylie Rae. Brandi has security keep Nyla away from Kylie as the segment ends.

(Well, it definitely looks like AEW's women's roster is growing. A lot of talent has been introduced for it. I wonder who else they'll get before May 25th.)

- SCU (SCU!) is introduced. They announce an after-party after Double or Nothing: SCU ALL NIGHT. Christopher Daniels gets on the mic and wants Excalibur to make another announcement. Excalibur announces that OWE talent will be at the event. We have a few of the executives from the company coming to the stage. They promise to bring Kung-Fu to the United States. China and the United States are being united in wrestling. Daniels puts over Cima. Daniels wants Cima to get in the ring with SCU with two of his best talent from OWE. Cima accepts.

(This card for Double or Nothing is really coming together.)

- The phone from Being The Elite is shown. A NEW CHALLENGER IS APPROACHING! KENNY OMEGA IS HERE! He's now an Executive Vice President in AEW! (Thank God he's not going to WWE. I love WWE, but I never want to see Kenny in WWE having to deal with what some others have had to deal with over the years.)

Kenny apologizes for making people wait this long. He didn't put pen to paper until this morning. He's now a full-time member of the AEW roster. He goes over the history of "The Elite." He admits that the journey had to come to an end in Japan. He continues to explain what "Change The World" means. But AEW's cast and crew will show the world.

JUDAS IS PLAYING! And it's Chris Jericho! Jericho's definitely got the "Outlaw" gimmick down perfectly. Jericho and Omega stare off face to face. They slap back at each other and have to be pulled apart. Jericho is being pulled back by AEW officials, including Billy Gunn.

Goodbye and Good night!

Kenny goes around the pool and shakes hands with people on the other side of the pool area.

Overall, this was a much better produced press conference than the one in January. While the first one introduced some of the bigger names involved in the promotion, this one answered a lot of questions in terms of what the marquee matches will be at Double or Nothing. You can pencil in Kenny Omega vs. Chris Jericho II as the probable main or co-main event of the show. Add that to the already great matches introduced earlier tonight. AEW, congratulations. You have my money. Just please don't make me pay Double or Nothing.

Until next time, take care of yourselves. Spread some awesomeness.

UnWrest Focus REWIND: Vader vs. Cactus Jack (WCW Halloween Havoc, 10/24/1993)

Spin the Wheel, Make The Deal. That was the gimmick going into this iconic match between two of the hardest hitting wrestlers of all time. It was the storyline months in development: Cactus Jack had just returned after Vader mauled him with a battery of injuries and a concussion to get his revenge. Vader, a merciless monster who delivers pain and punishment to all his vicitms, faced Cactus Jack, the one guy who would take Vader's assault and like the orphan Annie would ask for more. And if Vader wanted to brawl, no one could take Vader's offense and return it in spades quite like Cactus Jack. So, WCW billed the match as "Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal." The idea being that the actual stipulation of the match would be determined on Halloween Havoc by the spin of a big wheel. (If only wrestling could take the "Big Wheel" from The Price is Right. And of course, we'd have to make sure it goes all the way around.) So, the wheel landed that night on a Texas D

WCW Spring Stampede 1994 Review- WCW At Its Best + Flair/Steamboat In Another Classic

It's WCW in early 1994. We're now working up the hype for the eventual debut of Hulk Hogan to the company. This seems like the final last gasp of what WCW was prior to Hogan's debut with the company. Tonight, we are getting WCW World Champion Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat 5 years after their classic feud (covered on UnWrest Focus earlier). We are also getting International World Champion Ravishing Rick Rude vs. Sting. We also have Steve Austin defending his U.S. Championship against The Great Muta! And Cactus Jack and Maxx Payne go to war with The Nasty Boys in a Chicago Street Fight. Here we go! Mean Gene Okerlund welcomes us to the show as fireworks go off. We're in the Rosemont Horizon in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. Aaron Neville sings the National Anthem holding on to as many harmonies and vowels as he can. Tony Schiavone and Bobby Heenan put over the main event. 1) Johnny B. Badd vs. Diamond Dallas Page (w/ Diamond Doll) Badd comes out dressed like
