Elimination Chamber (2017)- He Had The Whole World In His Hands

The Elimination Chamber has been used to settle disputes and determine World Champions. But for most of its run, it has also helped settle what will comprise one of the big matches at WrestleMania. Very rarely, however, does someone shock the world in winning the championship. Usually, the champion or a huge name (or "Chosen One") wins the match to set up a marquee match at WrestleMania. This edition of Elimination Chamber was unique in that it determined a WWE Champion, helped set the stage for a WrestleMania World Championship match, and pushed someone that had never been WWE Champion up to that point. In a brand new Elimination Chamber, someone finally had the whole world in his hands.

Elimination Chamber Match
WWE Championship
John Cena (c) vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt vs. Baron Corbin vs. AJ Styles vs. The Miz

This is the debut of the new Elimination Chamber structure. It's 24 Ft. high and weighs 10 tons. It's more square than the original structure, and it has padding down on the Chamber floors. (The original structure was torture on the wrestlers. So, this is a welcome change, I'm sure.) Dean is the first one and locked into a pod. Baron Corbin, The Miz, and Bray Wyatt likewise are locked into their own pods. Bray takes his time getting into the chamber, walking to each other man's pod with the lantern in hand. That might be one of the better Elimination Chamber entrances ever actually.

Entrant #1 and Entrant #2- WWE Champion John Cena and A.J. Styles

And speaking of greatness, this might be the best opening combo in Elimination Chamber history: AJ Styles and John Cena.

The bell rings to start the 20th Elimination Chamber Match. Loud chants for both men in the ring. AJ and Cena go back and forth for a few minutes in the ring. Styles get a Torture Rack into a spinning Powerbomb for a 2 count. Styles Clash avoided by Cena. Code Red (Sunset Flip Powerbomb) for a 2 count by John Cena. Ushigaroshe (Death Valley Driver into the knee) by AJ Styles. 2 count. Diving Shoulder Tackles by John Cena. Spinning Powerbomb by Cena. You Can't See Me  is stopped by the count for the next entrant.

Entrant #3- Dean Ambrose

A Lunatic is loose! Ambrose goes after Cena and throws him onto the Chamber floor. Cena meets the chain walls. AJ comes out and gets some of that wall as well. Dean and AJ end up at another part of the Chamber. Dean suplex AJ and drops him like a powerbomb onto the floor! Ouch! Ambrose climbs one of the pods and dives off of it onto John Cena!!! (That mat protected them somewhat, but it's like taking a dive on a gym mat. You are still going to feel it.)
Back in the ring, AJ has Ambrose ready for a German. But Cena comes up from behind and executes a DOUBLE GERMAN SUPLEX ON BOTH MEN!!! Some great action between all three men (who worked a Triple Threat match) a few months prior to this. The count is on...

Entrant #4- Bray Wyatt

Wyatt comes in after everyone, throwing his body at Cena in a crossbody. AJ gets launched into the chain link walls. Moments later, Styles hits a Guillotine Legdrop sending Bray face first onto the Chamber floor. Cena goes after Styles. Styles fights him off and climbs up the wall. Both Cena and Styles are fighting on the wall, teasing falling back onto the floor.  CENA TAKES THE BUMP, FALLING DOWN ONTO THE FLOOR! (What these guys are doing is incredible. Again, those mats give very little comfort, but you have to believe that these guys wouldn't be taking these types of falls on the bare Chamber floors.)
Styles and Ambrose end up fighting on one of the pods. They bounce their heads off of the Lexan plastic over the top of the structure. (I believe the old Chamber originally had plexiglass. And then they replaced it with the Lexan which carried over to the new structure.) Ambrose jumps off a wall of the Chamber but gets clobbered by Bray Wyatt coming down. Dean gets placed on the corner in front of the pod where Styles is positioned. Styles comes down off the pod onto the corner. DEAN POWERBOMBS BRAY WHILE STYLES GET BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEXED BY BRAY! Wow! This is awesome. All four men are down. The count is on...

Entrant #5- Baron Corbin

Corbin and Ambrose go at it immediately. Corbin throws Ambrose into the chain wall and uses it to torture Ambrose. They both go back to the ring. Deep 6 to Ambrose. Back out to the floor of the chamber go both men. Wyatt gets thrown into one of the pods and takes a Corbin Big Boot. Cena is still selling the fall from earlier. AJ gets hits with End of Days in the ring. Cena runs over to get the STF on Corbin. End of Days to John Cena. Missile Dropkick by Ambrose. Ambrose throws Corbin into the walls of the chamber, but Corbin ends up doing the same to him seconds later. A great camera view is shown of Miz's position watching all of this unfold.  Corbin continues to dominate as the countdown begins.

Entrant #6- The Miz

Miz just stands in his chamber. Dean Ambrose catches Corbin just waiting for Miz and rolls him up! 1-2-3!

Baron Corbin has been eliminated.

Corbin goes after Ambrose. He sends Ambrose through one of the empty pods. He continues to beat up on Ambrose on the side of the ring. End of Days in the ring. Miz runs in and covers. 1-2-3!

Dean Ambrose has been eliminated.

Miz does the "Yes" poses to get the crowd riled up. He starts kicking at Cena and Wyatt. Crowd is going nuts in responding to Miz. He now kicks Styles in the corner. All three men are standing in the corner.  He toys with the crowd about who to attack first. All three men get a dropkick in the corner by Miz. Miz gets the Awesome Clothesline in the corner on Cena. Wyatt gets Skull Crushing Finale on the Chamber Floor. Cena rolls through a crossbody by The Miz and hits the AA. 1-2-3!

The Miz has been eliminated.

We're down to Styles, Wyatt, and Cena. Styles and Wyatt double up on Cena. Styles gets beat down by Wyatt. Wyatt misses a running senton on Cena. 5 Moves of Doom on Styles. Wyatt gets the spinning Powerbomb attack as well. TEN KNUCKLE SHUFFLE! AA to Wyatt! Styles avoids the AA. Styles Clash! 1-2-KICKOUT by Cena! Phenomenal Forearm misses. AA! 1-2-KICKOUT by Styles! (This is a great Elimination Chamber Match.)
Styles and Wyatt are down. Cena climbs the Chamber wall and gets on one of the pods. CENA FLIES OFF AND CROSSBODIES BOTH MEN! All three men are down. Cena gets on his feet. He picks up Wyatt to do the AA. SISTER ABIGAIL!!!! 1-2-3! Bray Wyatt eliminates John Cena in one of the most shocking eliminations in Elimination Chamber history.

John Cena has been eliminated.

Now, we are down to Bray Wyatt and AJ Styles to crown the NEW WWE Champion. Wyatt overpowers Styles and gets some forearms on Styles. AJ goes after the leg of Wyatt and dropkicks it. Spider Walk by Wyatt. AJ avoids Sister Abigail. Styles starts firing off quick forearms and elbows. BIG LARIAT BY WYATT! 1-2-KICKOUT! Pele Kick to Bray. Running Knee Attack by Styles. SPRINGBOARD 450!!! 1-2-KICKOUT! Wyatt refuses to stay down. Styles goes for the Phenomenal Forearm... BUT WYATT CATCHES HIM! SISTER ABIGAIL! 1-2-3! Bray Wyatt wins the Elimination Chamber Match and the WWE Championship.

Winner: Bray Wyatt (NEW WWE Champion)
Match Grade: A+. This is one of the greatest Elimination Chamber matches you will ever see. The level of athleticism and high-impact moves performed throughout this match meets up with the violence of the earlier Chamber matches. This also had one of the biggest surprise endings of the Chamber match in history. While Randy Orton was a member of the Wyatt Family and a lot of people would probably lean towards a Wyatt-Orton match at WrestleMania, the fact that Bray got the big push he got at the end of this match pushes it even further. WWE had him pin both AJ Styles and John Cena to cement his victory. In the modern era of WWE, you can not ask for a better Elimination Chamber Match.

Of course, we know that this doesn't end well for Bray Wyatt. He gets involved in a terrible feud with Randy Orton that did nothing for either of them. Orton and Wyatt would be saddled with goofy shenanigans in their match at WrestleMania. And while Orton would win that match and the title, he'd drop it a month later to Jinder Mahal. As for Wyatt, the biggest thing he did was face Finn Balor's Demon persona and feud/team with Woken Matt Hardy. But for one month, Bray Wyatt was WWE Champion, a position most wrestlers would have died to ascend to.

Until next time, take care of yourselves. Spread some awesomeness. And....

WWE Evolution Predictions + Thoughts on An Underpromoted All-Women PPV

Credit: WWE WWE Evolution Promotional Poster This should feel like a bigger deal. After all, this is the first time ever that an All-Women PPV is taking place under the WWE corporate umbrella. But WWE has done a great job of completely killing the show with an uninspired card, lack of promotion, lack of interest overall, and finding a million different other things to promote to undermine the event. Still, some fans (like myself) want to give the women their due and hope to enjoy this show. Here's a rundown of the card and my predictions for each match: 1) Raw Women's Championship: Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Nikki Bella If this goes longer than 5 minutes, it's definitely too long. As good as Nikki can be in the ring (at times), Rousey should just absolutely massacre her. The only ways to prolong this match in a realistic way would be 1) an injury angle or 2) Twin Magic with Brie interfering. Otherwise, this should be short and awesome. Prediction: Ronda Retains 2)

WWE TLC 2018 Review- Tables and Ladders and Chairs, Oh My!

HERE WE GO!    Pre-Show   1) WWE Cruiserweight Championship   Buddy Murphy (champ) vs. Cedric Alexander   They started this match early. Apparently, they wanted just as many fans in the arena as there usually are in 205 Live matches for this to give it the authentic feel.   The bell rings. A lot of tie-ups and switches to start up the match to a good reaction from the crowd. A Loud 205 Chant. Alexander takes down Murphy to the floor. Really good back and forth action here with both men moving quickly. Alexander catches Murphy with a dropkick for a 2 count. BIG KNEE to the head of Alexander sends him to the floor. Murphy flies off the top rope and hits a Meteora (maybe that’s what they were going for?) for a 2 count. Murphy has the advantage for a few moments, including a power choke on the corner on Alexander. He jumps off it to eat a SUPERKICK to the chest. Crowd seems invested in the match. That’s a good sign. WWE Super Show-Down 2018 Review: Last Time Ever Delivers + Some Other Solid Matches

Another big show in the WWE this year will happen today as WWE comes from Melbourne, Australia in front of 70,000 people. A lot of big matches are happening here. Let's Do This! No Pre-Show today. It's straight to the show. The new WWE opening takes place, and we get a WWE video package putting over the show and the LAST TIME EVER match. It looks like the Raw Announce Team will be calling the show. We go to the arena, and they've already spent more money on fireworks than they have for WWE programming this year. 70,309 in attendance. For once, the entrance way is understated. 1) SmackDown Live Tag Team Championship The Bar vs. The New Day (c) I wonder if Vince/WWE Management is ordering people to run the aisle tonight. Both tag teams were doing that coming to the ring.  Nice back and forth action with Kingston and Cesaro, along with Woods after getting the tag. Woods and Kingston had an awesome sequence of moves to start off. The Bar a minute later catches bot
