ALL IN (9/1/18)- TRULY BEING THE ELITE

This is it: The biggest independent wrestling show in history. Starrcast has already been in full swing the last few days, and now it's time to see whether the main course of the weekend lives up to the appetizers. Speaking of appetizers, I just watched the latest episode of Being The Elite to get myself hyped up for this show, and I'm fired up! Let's do this.

ALL IN
'** Note: I do not get WGN America. So, Zero Hour gets ZERO COVERAGE from me. **

We get a brief rundown intro by the announce team, and the arena looks awesome!!!! JUSTIN ROBERTS is there! Awesome! The national anthem is sung, and the set behind the singer looks great. The production values are definitely good for this. FLIP WON THE BATTLE ROYAL! He's facing Jay Lethal for the ROH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP tonight.

1) MJF vs. Matt Cross
I have no idea who the hell these guys are, but I'm going to enjoy this for what it is. Again, the production values of this show are definitely a spot above the norma of what you would see.
MJF shoulder tackles Cross down and taunts the crowd. Cross does a little hotdogging himself seconds later. MJF applauds him, and he goes to shake Cross's hand. He holds up Cross's hand, and he kicks him in the lower torso. MJF fakes a flip and tells the crowd he doesn't have to flip to get over. Leg Scissors takedown by Cross sends MJF to the outside. Sasuke Special DIVE from Cross to MJF on the outside.
MJF is rolled back in. Cross climbs up the top turnbuckle, but MJF rolls away from any attempt of a move. MJF uses the referee as a shield and sends Cross shoulder first into the ringpost. Senton on Cross's arm for a 2 followed by a stomp. Armbar by MJF. Cross chops MJF off, but Cross goes back to work on the arm. Arm-Wrench Powerbomb for a 2. Cross put on the top turnbuckle now. MJF works on the arm up on the top. Cross gets a hurricanrana on MJF sending him down to the mat.
Cross is on offense now. Handspring Elbow into the corner followed by a Springboard Crossbody for a 2. Lost signal for a second. But I get it back as MJF gets a Pendulum PILEDRIVER for a 2 on Cross. Moonsault misses. MJF lands on his feet and hurts a knee. CROSS executes a cutter and a Shooting Star Press off the top for the win.

Winner: Matt Cross.
Match Grade: C+. MJF was impressive here as a guy who needs to definitely grow more as a wrestler. But he's looking good as a young talent. Cross also looked good here as well.
Sean Mooney is interviewing Nick Aldis. Aldis calls his title the "most coveted title of all time." That may have been true 20 years ago, but Cody was right: a part-time wrestler/history teacher was champion before Aldis.

2) Stephen Amell vs. Christopher Daniels
Jerry Lynn is the special guest referee! Awesome. Stephen Amell comes out to the Bullet Club theme  with Josh Securra (MAD DOG) from Arrow as well! SCU! Here comes Christopher Daniels with his fellow SCU stablemates. John Mayer is front row as well. The bell rings.

Amell pushes Daniels. Daniels spits at Amell. Full nelson by Daniels, who takes down Amell and walks on Amell's back. Amell chops Daniels. He asks for another one. They are trading chops now. Takedown by Amell who walks on Daniels's back. Daniels takes Amell to the corner and attacks Amell. Amell jumps over Daniels and hits a dropkick. Enziguri and a clothesline over the top to Daniels. They are both outside. Daniels is rammed into the guard rail. And Amell gets a table!!!
Daniels and Amell are on the ring apron. Amell is going for a judo throw off the apron. Daniels avoids it and runs back in the ring. Amell goes on the attack on Daniels. Daniels gets a overhead back suplex on Amell and a kick to the gut. Chants for Arrow and The Fallen Angel so far. Daniels beats on Amell in the corner. Amell rammed shoulder first into the turnbuckle. Front suplex into a gutbuster by Daniels for a 2 count. Amell gets out of a reverse bear hug, but Daniels gets him back down and gets the Arabian moonsault for nothing. He's too busy making fun of the whole thing.
Daniels tries to superplex Amell over the top rope to the outside, but Amell blocks it. And we've lost signal... again. We're back. Amell gets a Falcon Arrow for a 2. Clothesline in the corner. Daniels is sitting in the corner. Amell climbs the opposite corner!!!! VAN TERMINATOR sans chair!!! 1-2-kickout!
Enziguri misses by Amell. Best Moonsault Ever by Daniels grazes Amell, and he only gets a 2. Amell is placed on the top turnbuckle, and Daniels climbs up to superplex Amell. But Amell knocks him down sending Daniels on the table. Amell goes for the elbow drop, but Daniels moves sending Amell through the table!!!!!!
Broken Arrow chant from the audience. Jerry Lynn, instead of counting out both men, throws both men in!!!! He refuses to count them out! Daniels is furious for some reason. Jerry Lynn throws his ref shirt off. Amell gets a rollup for a 2. Daniels attacks Amell. Amell tells Daniels to bring it. He does again, but Lynn gets him off of Amell. Amell flips off Daniels. Angel's Wings reversed into a butterfly pin for a 2 by Amell! Urinage by Daniels. Best Moonsault Ever by Daniels. 1-2-3

Winner: Christopher Daniels
Match Grade: B. Stephen Amell is a great athlete and can wrestle any time as far as I'm concerned. (True story: I'm a big Arrow fan. So I am biased.) Daniels was his usual solid stuff. But it wasn't as if Daniels had to carry Amell in this match as the Green Arrow carried his own weight in this.

Stephen Amell and Daniels shake hands after the match. Amell holds up his arm, and they both get on the turnbuckles to salute the crowd after the match. Cool.

3) Tessa Blanchard vs. Chelsea Green vs. Madison Rayne vs. Britt Baker

Britt Baker comes out to Adam Cole's ROH THEME!!! That's meta (she's dating Adam Cole in real life). Tessa hugs both her father Tully and Magnum TA on her way down to the ring. First to a Finish. The bell rings.

Madison tries to shake everyone's hands. Chelsea's split personality almost doesn't do it, but the other half of her does. But Tessa attacks Madison rather than shake her hand. Lots of rollups in the ring between Britt and Chelsea. Arm drag by Britt. Chelsea blocks another one. Britt and Chelsea fight over an arm drag before Britt finally hits one. Britt hits a lucha hip toss from the top rope to the mat. Tessa clotheslines Green over the top rope. Tessa goes to work on Baker. Baker is in the corner and eats a codebreaker from Tessa. Madison and Tessa are in the ring. Head scissors takedown by Madison to Tessa. Forearm by Tessa to Madison. POWER PRESS by Blanchard throwing Madison over the top onto the other 2 women. Wow. Tessa was going for a dive, but she gets pulled out. Chelsea eventually dives through the ropes onto Tessa.
Tessa is thrown back in. Tessa knocks Chelsea back to the floor. Tessa dives over the top onto two of her opponents, but Rayne flies off the top turnbuckle onto all 3 of her opponents seconds later. Tessa was grabbing her knee after doing the dive. We'll see what happens. Britt rolled in for a 2 count by Madison. Sling Blades by Baker to all three of her opponents. 2 count on Tessa. Rayne gets the Rip Cord (cutter) on Britt for a 2. Blanchard takes back control. She hits a delayed vertical suplex on Madison. Rollups by Tessa and Green for a 2 each. Each women breaks up a pin attempt by one of the others. Britt Baker eats a neckbreaker by Green for a 2. Britt Baker hits an Unprettier for a 2. Canadian Destroyer by Green gets a 2 ONLY on Blanchard. Standing ovation from the audience. Tessa gets a hammerlock DDT for a 3 which was nearly broken up.

Winner: Tessa Blanchard
Match Grade: B. Good match, but this was a bit of a sloppy mess all things considered. I can't give it more than this. But that being said: It was a good match and on the strong side of the B grade.

All the women hug at the end of the match.

4) NWA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Nick Aldis (c) vs. Cody

WOW! They're doing this already this early on the show. Brandi is out first. Then Cody gets walked to the ring by DDP, Dreamer, Glacier (?!), a couple other I can't tell, and his dog! Cody also has his blonde hair back. The ovation is deafening for Cody in this show. This has definitely picked up now. Aldis is being accompanied by Jeff Jarrett, Storm, Divari, and others. And he's being booed heavily.

Cody gets Aldis' leg. FIGURE FOUR!!!! Cody is screaming in anger and pain with blood on his face! Awesome. Aldis flips Cody over, and both men get to the ropes eventually. (This is the best NWA Championship match I've watched in 11 years. Ok. That's back when TNA ditched the belt.) We've lost video. We're back. Aldis gets Cody up and hits a powerslam on the outside. Aldis rolls back in the ring. The count is on. Aldis stops the count and goes out to get Cody. He rolls him back in.

CODY IS THE FIRST EVER SON OF A FORMER NWA WORLD CHAMPION TO WIN THE NWA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!

Winner: Cody (NEW NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION)
Match Grade: A+. That was incredible from a storyline perspective. They told such a great story throughout the entire match. The match lived up to the hype and then some. When thinking of Cody's career, this may be hard to beat as both top match and top moment.

DDP comes back out and holds up Cody's hand. The other members of Cody's entourage come out to celebrate with him! This is a great moment in wrestling history!

5) Chicago Street Fight
Joey Janela (w/ Penelope Ford) vs. Hangman Page

Match Grade: A. THAT'S A STREET FIGHT AS IT SHOULD BE. WOW!

The lights go out after the match. Joey Ryan is shown lying on the bed where he supposedly died, and he was shown as being anything but dead. Here comes Joey Ryan. Page is shocked. MATCH GRADE: A+. The fact that this show ran long may have helped the main event. It moved so quickly that you couldn't catch your breath at all watching this. All 6 men had a tall task in trying to get a main event level match in at around 10 minutes, and they did it.

And just like that, we are off the frigging air. They just barely got that last match in.

Show Grade: A+. That has to be the best event of the year now. They had a tough task in front of them: to live up to the hype. And they more than did so here. They had a couple of production problems with pacing, but that's to be expected when you have a show as front-loaded as this was. All In was ELITE.

Thank you all for checking this out. Write your thoughts and comments and share with any of your fellow wrestling friends. Until we meet again, take care of yourselves. And spread that awesomeness.

WWE Evolution Predictions + Thoughts on An Underpromoted All-Women PPV

Credit: WWE WWE Evolution Promotional Poster This should feel like a bigger deal. After all, this is the first time ever that an All-Women PPV is taking place under the WWE corporate umbrella. But WWE has done a great job of completely killing the show with an uninspired card, lack of promotion, lack of interest overall, and finding a million different other things to promote to undermine the event. Still, some fans (like myself) want to give the women their due and hope to enjoy this show. Here's a rundown of the card and my predictions for each match: 1) Raw Women's Championship: Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Nikki Bella If this goes longer than 5 minutes, it's definitely too long. As good as Nikki can be in the ring (at times), Rousey should just absolutely massacre her. The only ways to prolong this match in a realistic way would be 1) an injury angle or 2) Twin Magic with Brie interfering. Otherwise, this should be short and awesome. Prediction: Ronda Retains 2)...

WWE TLC 2018 Review- Tables and Ladders and Chairs, Oh My!

HERE WE GO!    Pre-Show   1) WWE Cruiserweight Championship   Buddy Murphy (champ) vs. Cedric Alexander   They started this match early. Apparently, they wanted just as many fans in the arena as there usually are in 205 Live matches for this to give it the authentic feel.   The bell rings. A lot of tie-ups and switches to start up the match to a good reaction from the crowd. A Loud 205 Chant. Alexander takes down Murphy to the floor. Really good back and forth action here with both men moving quickly. Alexander catches Murphy with a dropkick for a 2 count. BIG KNEE to the head of Alexander sends him to the floor. Murphy flies off the top rope and hits a Meteora (maybe that’s what they were going for?) for a 2 count. Murphy has the advantage for a few moments, including a power choke on the corner on Alexander. He jumps off it to eat a SUPERKICK to the chest. Crowd seems invested in the matc...

WWE Super Show-Down 2018 Review: Last Time Ever Delivers + Some Other Solid Matches

Another big show in the WWE this year will happen today as WWE comes from Melbourne, Australia in front of 70,000 people. A lot of big matches are happening here. Let's Do This! No Pre-Show today. It's straight to the show. The new WWE opening takes place, and we get a WWE video package putting over the show and the LAST TIME EVER match. It looks like the Raw Announce Team will be calling the show. We go to the arena, and they've already spent more money on fireworks than they have for WWE programming this year. 70,309 in attendance. For once, the entrance way is understated. 1) SmackDown Live Tag Team Championship The Bar vs. The New Day (c) I wonder if Vince/WWE Management is ordering people to run the aisle tonight. Both tag teams were doing that coming to the ring.  Nice back and forth action with Kingston and Cesaro, along with Woods after getting the tag. Woods and Kingston had an awesome sequence of moves to start off. The Bar a minute later catches bot...
