UnWrest Focus: Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels Part III- The Punch and Unforgiven 2008 (100th Post!)

Welcome to another edition of UnWrest Focus as we continue the look into the great rivalry between Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels from 2008. When we last left off, Shawn had suffered a severe beating by Chris Jericho at The Great American Bash. A beating so severe that the referee had to stop the match and officials had to help Michaels to the back. What happens next would only add more fuel to the fire. It was announced that at SummerSlam 2008, Shawn Michaels would have a special announcement for the WWE fans. That night, however, only served to add gasoline to an already hot feud.

SummerSlam 2008
- Shawn comes out with his wife and tells the crowd that the doctor recommended that with all of his injuries that he should walk away. Michaels tells the crowd that he is going to become a full-time husband and father. He says that he wants to thank...
Enter Chris Jericho unannounced. Jericho refuses to let Shawn Michaels walk away without acknowledging that it was Jericho that made him walk away. Jericho won't ever let him forget that it was him that damaged him. Jericho wants Michaels to admit that he put him out to himself and for Jericho. All of Michaels' accomplishments mean nothing. All people will remember is that Jericho put him out.
Michaels admits it. He'll tell his kids and family that he can't wrestle anymore because of a vile, selfish human being. And Michaels wants Jericho to tell his wife and kids that "Daddy will never ever be Shawn Michaels." Massive HBK chant. Michaels' wife tries to pull him away from Jericho, but as she does that, Jericho winds up to punch Michaels. Michaels instinctively ducks, and Jericho decks Michaels' wife right in the face.
Shawn sells anger and fury at Jericho's direction while checking on his wife.

Jericho afterwards blamed Michaels for wanting to be a glory hound one last time. And Michaels is to blame for everything that happened in the ring. Michaels refused to give him credit for ending his career, and "look what happened." The last moment Shawn will ever spend in the ring was him cradling his wife, and Jericho thinks that Michaels deserved it. Shawn says he saw no remorse in Jericho's face, and he knows he's not done yet. Jericho and Michaels agree to an Unsanctioned Match. Shawn hopes God will forgive him for what he's going to do. "An eye for an eye."

Unsanctioned Match
Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels

Jericho walks out in his new tights. Shawn Michaels simply walks out in a tank top and jeans. Completely different mindsets here: Jericho feeling that it's business as usual, Michaels showing up for a fight. Michaels charges the ring and spears Jericho down. The bell rings. It's on!

Michaels unloads with punches at Jericho. Kicks now to a down Jericho. Michaels rips off his boot and smacks Jericho with it a few times. Jericho rolls outside. Michaels dives at Jericho sending them both over the railing into the crowd and continues to attack him! Right hand to the nose. Both men go back over the railing to ringside. Michaels continues to press the attack. Michaels slings Jericho into the ringpost. Michaels swings a chair at Jericho, but he misses. Jericho knocks him down and then into the announce table. Michaels dropped throat first on the rail. DDT on the floor by Jericho.
Jericho goes under the ring and gets a table. He smacks one against the back of Michaels. He gets another one and sets it up on the floor. Jericho sets up for a powerbomb. Michaels fights off a table spot from the position, but he gets smacked head first against the ring. Both men are back in the ring with a steel chair in Jericho's hand. Chair to the ribs by Jericho. Steel chair smacked against the back now of Michaels.  Back suplex by Jericho. He props a chair in between the top and middle turnbuckles. Punches by Jericho and a foot choke in the corner. Michaels sends Jericho shoulder first through the turnbuckles and against the ringpost. Jericho gets the advantage and tries to suplex Michaels to the outside through the table. Jericho gets Michaels up, but he lands on the apron and sends Jericho back in the ring.
Flying forearm by Michaels. KIP UP. Michaels now executes a double hand throat choke on Jericho. Michaels climbs the top of the corner. ELBOW DROP to the heart of Jericho half way across the ring. The band is being tuned up. Jericho crumbles down, and Michaels holds the kick back. Flurry of punches now by Michaels down on Jericho. Crossface to Jericho. Jericho gets on his knees and sends Michaels head up against the chair set up earlier between the turnbuckles. Michaels is holding his eye, and Jericho goes right after it with several punches. Jericho now rakes at the face of Michaels. Jericho continues to unload punches at Michaels. Michaels gets a few punches in himself, sending Jericho into the corner. Thesz Press and punches now by Michaels (I've seen someone else do this before). Michaels goes for a piledriver, but JERICHO REVERSES INTO THE WALLS OF JERICHO! Michaels gets to the ropes, but Jericho refuses to let go. (He doesn't have to as he can't be disqualified.) Michaels gets a fire extinguisher and sprays it right in Jericho's face to break the hold! The Walls of Jericho have been broken!
Michaels SWINGS the fire extinguisher into the face of Jericho sending him to the floor. Michaels goes out after him.  Punt to the ribs by Michaels. He sends Jericho against the rails on the entrance way. Michaels then suplexes Jericho against the steel ramp! Jericho is screaming. Lance Cade runs in, but Michaels drops him before he can do anything. Michaels runs up to and decks Jericho. Cade decks Michaels on his injured trice and turns Michaels inside out with a clothesline. Cade puts Michaels on the apron and places his arm against the ringpost. Jericho holds it in position while Cade rams his hip against the triceps and the post!

All 3 men are in the ring. Cade holds up Michaels to be slapped by Jericho. They are dissecting Michaels with attack after attack. Kicks to the laying Michaels. Jericho has a chair, and he smacks it against the tricep of Michaels. (He got more of the canvas than anything here.) Michaels sells agony while Jericho relishes in his success. Another chair shot to the arm by Jericho. They wrap the chair around Michaels' arm. They're going to Pillmanize Michaels' arm. But as Jericho is on the top of the corner, Michaels kicks Cade off and into the ropes, causing Jericho to fall on top of the corner. Sweet Chin Music to Cade!!! Michaels decks Jericho with a chair that sends him flying back off the corner down through the table set up earlier on the floor!!!!!
Michaels goes back out and just smacks Jericho with one armed chair shots to the torso of Jericho!!! Michaels clears off the table at ringside. He puts Cade on the middle table, goes back in the ring, climbs the top of the corner, and climbs back down. He goes to the floor and puts Jericho on the table with Cade! He goes back in the ring, climbs the top of the corner in the ring, AND FLYS THROUGH THE AIR TO DELIVER A ELBOW DROP ALL THE WAY DOWN THROUGH CADE, THROUGH JERICHO, AND THROUGH THE DAMN TABLE! WOW!
Michaels drags Jericho into the ring. He takes off his belt from the jeans and proceeds to absolutely DESTROY JERICHO with this belt with vicious whips to the back. Jericho is bleeding from the back! Another belt shot may have hit Jericho in the eye. Jericho's nose may be busted open. Michael takes the belt, wraps it around his hand, and proceeds to punch Jericho in a mounted position. The referee pulls him off. Michaels continues to punch down at Jericho now. The referee calls for the bell, but Michaels continues to destroy Jericho.
Shawn Michaels is declared the winner!!! Michaels is an emotional wreck in the face, having unleashed a side of himself. He goes back to attack Jericho with more punches. The referee gets him off of Jericho. The referee tells him "That's enough." SWEET CHIN MUSIC TO THE REFEREE!!!!!

Winner: Shawn Michaels
Match Grade: A-. This was a great Unsanctioned Match in my opinion and the best of their series of matches up to this point. However, I agree with the assessment that this match could have been cut down a few minutes in order to make it even better. That being said, both of these guys are great storytellers. This was just another example of the awesomeness both men can perform.

This could have been the perfect way to wrap up this storyline, but...

We're not done! Later this night, Chris Jericho would be inserted into the World Heavyweight Championship Scramble Match and become the World Champion by hook or crook. Thus, the stage was set for No Mercy 2008. A show many people claim was saved by its main event: HBK vs. Y2J in a Ladder Match.

But that's for the NEXT edition of UnWrest Focus to describe to you. Until then, take care of yourselves. Spread some awesomeness.

**Side Note: This makes the 100th post for the website. Thank you all for checking out these posts! Here's to many more!

UnWrest Focus REWIND: Vader vs. Cactus Jack (WCW Halloween Havoc, 10/24/1993)

Spin the Wheel, Make The Deal. That was the gimmick going into this iconic match between two of the hardest hitting wrestlers of all time. It was the storyline months in development: Cactus Jack had just returned after Vader mauled him with a battery of injuries and a concussion to get his revenge. Vader, a merciless monster who delivers pain and punishment to all his vicitms, faced Cactus Jack, the one guy who would take Vader's assault and like the orphan Annie would ask for more. And if Vader wanted to brawl, no one could take Vader's offense and return it in spades quite like Cactus Jack. So, WCW billed the match as "Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal." The idea being that the actual stipulation of the match would be determined on Halloween Havoc by the spin of a big wheel. (If only wrestling could take the "Big Wheel" from The Price is Right. And of course, we'd have to make sure it goes all the way around.) So, the wheel landed that night on a Texas D

WCW Spring Stampede 1994 Review- WCW At Its Best + Flair/Steamboat In Another Classic

It's WCW in early 1994. We're now working up the hype for the eventual debut of Hulk Hogan to the company. This seems like the final last gasp of what WCW was prior to Hogan's debut with the company. Tonight, we are getting WCW World Champion Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat 5 years after their classic feud (covered on UnWrest Focus earlier). We are also getting International World Champion Ravishing Rick Rude vs. Sting. We also have Steve Austin defending his U.S. Championship against The Great Muta! And Cactus Jack and Maxx Payne go to war with The Nasty Boys in a Chicago Street Fight. Here we go! Mean Gene Okerlund welcomes us to the show as fireworks go off. We're in the Rosemont Horizon in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. Aaron Neville sings the National Anthem holding on to as many harmonies and vowels as he can. Tony Schiavone and Bobby Heenan put over the main event. 1) Johnny B. Badd vs. Diamond Dallas Page (w/ Diamond Doll) Badd comes out dressed like
