Quick Blog Update- 9/15/18

What's up, fellow wrestling fans?

I wanted to provide a quick update on the blog for the next couple days. Unfortunately, I will not be able to watch the whole Destruction in Hiroshima show today. NJPW World did not load the show in a fast fashion, and the timing just hasn't worked out for me. I'm about an hour into it as I type this and have other things I need to get to. So, I will be posting my review tomorrow morning. But I'm still on schedule (knock on wood) to cover Hell in a Cell tomorrow night and provide a post-show blog within a half hour after the event finishes up.

UnWrest Focus- The Rock vs. Stone Cold at WrestleMania Part II- WrestleMania X-Seven

Welcome to the second of three posts looking at the epic rivalry between The Rock and Stone Cold at WrestleMania. This edition will look at the iconic encounter between the two at WrestleMania X-Seven. As previously mentioned on the first post, their encounter in 2001 was a culmination of different paths coming together to reunite a classic feud. While The Rock and Stone Cold had met at WrestleMania XV and Backlash in 1999, their next major epic match was not until this show. While the end of No Mercy 1999 hinted that these two and Triple H would be involved in a Triple Threat match, Stone Cold needed to get his neck surgery that he had put off for a couple years. While Austin went out for his neck surgery, the company turned to The Rock as the sole lead face on WWF programming. The Rock was the central attaction of WWF programming from 1999-2000 and helped the company maintain its position as the #1 wrestling promotion in the world. WWE TLC 2018 Review- Tables and Ladders and Chairs, Oh My!

HERE WE GO! Pre-Show 1) WWE Cruiserweight Championship Buddy Murphy (champ) vs. Cedric Alexander They started this match early. Apparently, they wanted just as many fans in the arena as there usually are in 205 Live matches for this to give it the authentic feel. The bell rings. A lot of tie-ups and switches to start up the match to a good reaction from the crowd. A Loud 205 Chant. Alexander takes down Murphy to the floor. Really good back and forth action here with both men moving quickly. Alexander catches Murphy with a dropkick for a 2 count. BIG KNEE to the head of Alexander sends him to the floor. Murphy flies off the top rope and hits a Meteora (maybe that’s what they were going for?) for a 2 count. Murphy has the advantage for a few moments, including a power choke on the corner on Alexander. He jumps off it to eat a SUPERKICK to the chest. Crowd seems invested in the matc...

UnWrest Focus- Survivor Series: Team Cena vs. Team Authority (Survivor Series 2014)

A feud between those who abuse power and those who try to overcome their abuse. It's a classic storytelling trope that has been used time and time again throughout fiction and history. In 2014, that trope was brought back as The Authority looked to cement its power through their "Chosen One" Seth Rollins and his team. Meanwhile, John Cena and other disgruntled WWE employees sought to end the "Reign of Terror" of The Authority once and for all. Putting their jobs on the line, Team Cena hoped to get an opportunity to send Stephanie and Triple H away. However, fans didn't expect a traitor in the midst of Team Cena or the debut of the Franchise of WCW in a WWE ring.
