Blog Update 9/27/18

What's up everyone? Here are a few updates about what's coming up or has happened on the blog.

1) UnWrest Focus is Up and Running:  I hope you are enjoying all the new posts from this week. I've added two series of Focus to this page. The first series of Focus posts went through the three legendary matches in the Ricky Steamboat vs. Ric Flair rivalry in 1989. And the second set of posts focuses on the PPV encounters between Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels in 2008. I am going to be doing a 3rd set of Focus posts this weekend, focusing this time on the classic trilogy of matches between Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock at WrestleMania 15, 17, and 19. If I have extra time, I may throw in Backlash 1999 or even Rebellion 2001 (a UK-only event). After that, I'm thinking about covering one of the following feuds or matches for Focus:
a) Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels- Singles Matches: 1992-1997
b) Sting vs. Vader- 1992-1994
c) WarGames 1987-1992
d) Macho Man Randy Savage vs. Diamond Dallas Page- 1997
e) Undertaker vs. Edge- 2007-2008
f) Kenny Omega vs. Kazuchika Okada- 2017-2018

Let me know what you think about those options.

2) Classic Events: Be sure to check out the Spring Stampede 1994 review that I posted on Wednesday. This includes yet another classic match between Steamboat and Flair, a great undercard, and some fun moments involving WCW personalities.

I will be watching ROH/NJPW War of the Worlds 2014 sometime in the next two weeks to get that on the website as well.

After that, I'm thinking of going back to Bound for Glory 2006 for my first TNA review.

3) Live Event Coverage: I will be watching NJPW's Long Beach show this weekend and post the results on the page late Sunday Night.

I will not be watching ROH's Death Before Dishonor as it is too much of a house show for me to sink money into.

I will also be covering WWE Super Show-Down next Saturday (10/6) and posting results as soon as that show ends.

WWE Stomping Grounds 2019 Review

What's up everyone, It's the sequel to WWE Super Showdown as WWE presents the first ever Stomping Grounds event. Will this be an annual thing or go the way of "Great Balls of Fire?" We'll find out later. Anyways, stay here throughout the night if you are reading live (or keep reading if you are seeing this afterwards)  as I am providing live thoughts of the show. WWE Stomping Grounds Tacoma, WA June 23, 2019 Pre-Show - A preview is shown of Dolph Ziggler vs. Kofi Kingston in a Steel Cage Match. This doesn't feel like a WWE Championship match. Rather, it feels like a Raw 2011 mid-card match for the United States Championship. And worse at that. At least 2011 had Vickie Guerrero at ringside yelling "EXCUSE ME!" - In a cool bit, Booker T is in the steel cage showing off the cage for the pre-show audience.  That was a cool visual. - Coach is so much better on the Kickoff Panel than he ever was behind the announce table. If WWE does ge...

WWE TLC 2018 Review- Tables and Ladders and Chairs, Oh My!

HERE WE GO!    Pre-Show   1) WWE Cruiserweight Championship   Buddy Murphy (champ) vs. Cedric Alexander   They started this match early. Apparently, they wanted just as many fans in the arena as there usually are in 205 Live matches for this to give it the authentic feel.   The bell rings. A lot of tie-ups and switches to start up the match to a good reaction from the crowd. A Loud 205 Chant. Alexander takes down Murphy to the floor. Really good back and forth action here with both men moving quickly. Alexander catches Murphy with a dropkick for a 2 count. BIG KNEE to the head of Alexander sends him to the floor. Murphy flies off the top rope and hits a Meteora (maybe that’s what they were going for?) for a 2 count. Murphy has the advantage for a few moments, including a power choke on the corner on Alexander. He jumps off it to eat a SUPERKICK to the chest. Crowd seems invested in the matc...

WCW Spring Stampede 1994 Review- WCW At Its Best + Flair/Steamboat In Another Classic

It's WCW in early 1994. We're now working up the hype for the eventual debut of Hulk Hogan to the company. This seems like the final last gasp of what WCW was prior to Hogan's debut with the company. Tonight, we are getting WCW World Champion Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat 5 years after their classic feud (covered on UnWrest Focus earlier). We are also getting International World Champion Ravishing Rick Rude vs. Sting. We also have Steve Austin defending his U.S. Championship against The Great Muta! And Cactus Jack and Maxx Payne go to war with The Nasty Boys in a Chicago Street Fight. Here we go! Mean Gene Okerlund welcomes us to the show as fireworks go off. We're in the Rosemont Horizon in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. Aaron Neville sings the National Anthem holding on to as many harmonies and vowels as he can. Tony Schiavone and Bobby Heenan put over the main event. 1) Johnny B. Badd vs. Diamond Dallas Page (w/ Diamond Doll) Badd comes out dressed like ...
