Ten Dream Matches for The Future

Fantasy booking is something all wrestling fans tend to do. We always like to think about what matches could have happened involving wrestling legends in the past (something I'd like to do one day on here). But equally as entertaining is the thought of what could be. The wrestling matches between wrestlers that have never fought before or never on bigger stages. So, I'm going to mention 10 completely random dream matches that I'd like to see in the future involving wrestlers active on today's wrestling scene.

1) Samoa Joe vs. Minoru Suzuki- Who wouldn't enjoy this match? Two of the most legitimate bad asses in wrestling going at it. Joe's brand of physicality matching up against the sadistic style of Suzuki. Joe and Suzuki would create magic in my opinion.

2) AJ Styles vs. Seth Rollins- Who wouldn't want to see this match on the big stage in WWE? Both guys are considered the best wrestlers on their brand, and each is considered to be among the most athletically gifted wrestlers of all time. Styles vs. Rollins could set the wrestling world ablaze at arenas, at home, and online.

3) Will Ospreay vs. Rey Mysterio- NJPW teased this match, but unfortunately, it looks like Rey may have resigned with WWE. So, this goes back into dream match territory. Still, Rey Mysterio at his age can move around extremely well, and Ospreay is truly an aerial assassin in every sense of the phrase. It would be a great match to see.

4) The Young Bucks vs. The Usos- Imagine this one day: The Young Bucks with their cocky attitudes and stylish maneuvers going to THE USO PENITENTIARY! Day One Ish vs. The SUPERKICK PARTY! The action would probably be too fast for the human eyes to absorb, but the two pairs of brothers going at it would be an amazing contest.

5) Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. John Cena- This would be the biggest star in the wrestling world in the 2000s-2010s against the man who saved New Japan and has become one of its biggest legends. Both men are known to be faces throughout much of their career and getting people to cheer them. Tanahashi's storytelling meeting "Big Match John" would be one for the record books. Imagine Tanahashi selling the STF or Cena eating a standing HIGH FLY FLOW by Tanahashi. Or how about a You Can't See Me/Five Knuckle Shuffle being countered by a Sling Blade? Again, that would be an amazing match to watch.

6) Pentagon Jr. vs. Kota Ibushi- We've already seen Pentagon Jr. take on Kenny Omega, but how would Pentagon Jr. handle facing Kenny's fellow Golden Lover Kota Ibushi? I've seen a very limited number of Pentagon Jr. matches, but I know how super talented the guy is after seeing several of his Lucha Underground and Impact matches. Ibushi is another amazing talent who can strike as hard as he can fly. I'd love to see Kota get that match.

7) Adam Cole vs. Kenny Omega vs. AJ Styles vs. Finn Balor- Hell yes. Imagine this match: Three of these men ran the Bullet Club as its leader. Finn Balor (Prince Devitt) started the club which then passed to AJ Styles and eventually on to Kenny Omega. Meanwhile, Adam Cole (Bay Bay) tried to usurp power at one point while in the Bullet Club and even "fired" the Bucks at one point from the Club. Eventually, Cole left for WWE and was kicked out of the Club prior to his final appareance in ROH. Imagine a storyline with these four men with Cole looking to one up every one of these guys, Styles having unfinished business with Omega from his betrayal back in 2016, and Balor wanting to prove to all of them that he was the original and the best member of Bullet Club. That's great storytelling there.

8) Kazuchika Okada vs. Kevin Owens- From what I have been able to research, they have not faced each other yet. It's no secret that Kevin Owens is one of the most entertaining wrestlers in WWE. As much as he is known for his character, he is also known as being one of the best in-ring competitors in WWE. Okada is one of the greatest wrestlers in the world, having great matches with a variety of talents from multiple styles of wrestling. Okada's prolonged wrestling style which delivers more and more impact up into its crescendo at the end would match well with Owens' style of hard-hitting, trash-talking, and emotional involvement of the audience.

9) Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Brock Lesnar- Yes. This match did happen once a long time ago when a young Shinsuke Nakamura got clobbered by Brock Lesnar in New Japan. But that was before Swagsuke was born and Nakamura grew into the legend from Japan that he became. Brock Lesnar doesn't have many dream matches left, if he stays past Crown Jewel. But once, I'd like to see The Beast go up against The King of Strong Style.

10) Chris Jericho vs. Daniel Bryan- Again, this is another situation in which the match has already happened before, but the situations are SO much different now. The sympathetic babyface "YES!"-chanting Daniel Bryan has never faced THIS Chris Jericho.

For this feud, I want Jericho with all his insane run-ins, the crazy video promos, the make-up, the vicious attacks, and coming out to "Judas." I WANT NEW JAPAN JERICHO. And I want Daniel Bryan at his best, having to overcome ALL the odds against a seemingly unstoppable force using his connection with the people in order to power himself against such an enemy. That'd make for some damn good TV if you ask me.

What are your thoughts on some of these dream matches? What other dream matches involving active wrestlers do you want to see in today's wrestling world? I'd welcome any comments or ideas for dream matches.

Until next time, take care of yourselves. Spread some awesomeness.

UnWrest Focus REWIND: Vader vs. Cactus Jack (WCW Halloween Havoc, 10/24/1993)

Spin the Wheel, Make The Deal. That was the gimmick going into this iconic match between two of the hardest hitting wrestlers of all time. It was the storyline months in development: Cactus Jack had just returned after Vader mauled him with a battery of injuries and a concussion to get his revenge. Vader, a merciless monster who delivers pain and punishment to all his vicitms, faced Cactus Jack, the one guy who would take Vader's assault and like the orphan Annie would ask for more. And if Vader wanted to brawl, no one could take Vader's offense and return it in spades quite like Cactus Jack. So, WCW billed the match as "Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal." The idea being that the actual stipulation of the match would be determined on Halloween Havoc by the spin of a big wheel. (If only wrestling could take the "Big Wheel" from The Price is Right. And of course, we'd have to make sure it goes all the way around.) So, the wheel landed that night on a Texas D

WCW Spring Stampede 1994 Review- WCW At Its Best + Flair/Steamboat In Another Classic

It's WCW in early 1994. We're now working up the hype for the eventual debut of Hulk Hogan to the company. This seems like the final last gasp of what WCW was prior to Hogan's debut with the company. Tonight, we are getting WCW World Champion Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat 5 years after their classic feud (covered on UnWrest Focus earlier). We are also getting International World Champion Ravishing Rick Rude vs. Sting. We also have Steve Austin defending his U.S. Championship against The Great Muta! And Cactus Jack and Maxx Payne go to war with The Nasty Boys in a Chicago Street Fight. Here we go! Mean Gene Okerlund welcomes us to the show as fireworks go off. We're in the Rosemont Horizon in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. Aaron Neville sings the National Anthem holding on to as many harmonies and vowels as he can. Tony Schiavone and Bobby Heenan put over the main event. 1) Johnny B. Badd vs. Diamond Dallas Page (w/ Diamond Doll) Badd comes out dressed like
