Survivor Series 2018 Review- Bad Booking Overshadows A Couple Good Matches

Backstage, the Raw Women's team is shown getting hyped up and prepared to get even with SmackDown over what happened on Monday. Ruby Riott asks if Natty superglued her daddy's glasses together. Natalya SPEARS her and starts throwing punches. There's a pull apart, and Raw Team Captain Alexa Bliss pulls them off the team!!!!

They drag Dawson in the middle. SUPERMAN PUNCH INTO THE  SPLASH! 1-2-3!

Winners: The Usos (Team SmackDown)
Match Grade: B-. This was the tale of two matches. I hated this match up until The Lucha Dragons were eliminated. After they were eliminated and the match became a little less botched up, I enjoyed the hell out of the last 8-10 minutes of this.

Sasha and Bayley are taking the opportunity to take the two open spots They let the other women on Team Raw know that after this is over, they are coming back for revenge for what they did to them on Monday.

Sasha climbs up to the top rope. NIA PUSHES HER OFF INTO THE ASUKA LOCK! SASHA TAPS OUT!

Sasha Banks has tapped out.

Nia drops the leg 3 times on Asuka. Samoan Drop. 1-2-3.

Winner: Nia Jax (Team Raw)
Match Grade: B-. Fun opening match on the main show here. Again, there are some interesting stories being told on both sides. They actually protected Asuka here by having her caught in a compromising position when Nia attacked her.

The boos continue to shower down on Nia Jax. Raw is up 1-0. (They aren't counting the Kickoff Show on the count apparently.)

Stephanie tells Baron Corbin that Raw better sweep the series tonight. He guarantees that Raw will win tonight. Bickering between the Raw and SmackDown administrative teams. Yadda yadda yadda.

Winner: Seth Rollins
Match Grade: B+. I really enjoyed this match, and it is probably Nakamura's best singles match in WWE at this point that didn't involve another stipulation. Rollins and Nakamura should meet again. The crowd was really rough on the match at the beginning, but they got into it at the end.
Raw is up 2-0.

The Men's Raw Team met in the back discussing strategy. Braun threatens everyone that they will get these hands if they lose. R-Truth walks in at the end. Hilarity ensues.

3) Raw Tag Team Champions The Authors of Pain (w/Drake Maverick) vs. SmackDown Live Tag Team Champions The Bar (w/Big Show)

The bell rings. Sheamus is in with one of AOP. The fans are too busy doing something else to care. Tag to Sheamus. Double Clothesline to Razar. Akum gets swung, but Razar stops him. Tag to Akum by Razar. Sidewalk Slam Stomp in the corner for a 2 count. Something more important is clearly going on in the audience. More domination by AOP in the ring on Cesaro. Enzo Amore apparently was in the crowd and got kicked out by securty. This dude is nothing but a hot mess. Get your life together man. Facepalm.
Sheamus and Razar are brawling for a second while the referee is breaking them up. They aren't legal. Cesaro gets more punishment. The crowd returns to caring enough to clap for Cesaro to break free of AOP. Sheamus stomps his foot to get some involvement, and the crowd can only politely applaud in one section. AOP just hits a big neckbreaker/powerbomb on Sheamus for the 3 count.

Winners: AOP
Match Grade: D. I honestly could have cared less. The crowd could have cared less too.

Raw is up 3-0 now. So, this is definitely going to be another Raw night.

SmackDown is doing a pep talk in their locker room. R-Truth is involved again, and he's not even on the team.

4) WWE Cruiserweight Championship

The bell rings. Bathroom break everyone! Just kidding. Murphy takes it to Ali early, but Ali starts firing back as well. Some back and forth athleticism early on. Snap rana by Ali. "This is Awesome" Chant. Ali gets caught with a knee by Murphy. Murphy's Law connects. 1-2-3.

Winner: Buddy Murphy (STILL WWE Cruiserweight Champion)
Match Grade: B+. I wouldn't call it awesome, but it was very good. Equally on par with the Nakamura-Rollins match early on, but this was a bunch of flips and dives that I'm not sure anyone will really care about because very few people watch 205 Live. The best they can hope for is that enough people watched the match to start paying attention to the show.

Daniel Bryan is asked about being ready for Brock Lesnar. He just smiles and walks off.

5) Men's 5 on 5 Survivor Series Match
Team Raw (Braun Strowman, Drew McIntyre, Dolph Ziggler, Bobby Lashley, and Finn Balor) (w/Lio Rush and Baron Corbin) vs. Team SmackDown Live (Shane McMahon, The Miz, Rey Mysterio, Jeff Hardy, and Samoa Joe)

Match Grade: D. This is basically the same as last year. Shane was last man left standing, and Braun just destroys everyone. The end. Bad booking again.

LOUD THANK YOU CHARLOTTE CHANTS FROM THE CROWD!

Winner: Ronda Rousey
Match Grade: A+. Seriously, I loved this match and I loved what happened afterwards. Will this lead to WrestleMania? Will this lead to a match at Rumble instead? I don't know. But this is the anger from Charlotte Flair that the fans wanted to see. This brutality is something that was likely going to come from Becky Lynch if she were healthy. But putting Charlotte in this position is just fine by me. It gives her a fresh perspective to her character, and I hope we get more of Flair and Rousey... as long as it also involves Becky Lynch going forward.

Rousey gets up and is bleeding from a lot of different places. Loud Becky chants and boos from the crowd towards Rousey.

Raw is up 5-0, if anyone still cares. That FOX deal really means jack squat, doesn't it?

Winner: Brock Lesnar (Universal Champion)
Match Grade: A-. Another really solid match on this show and the best of the night. Lesnar sold for Bryan in a lot of ways that I didn't really expect to see. Some good selling by Lesnar throughout the match. Bryan shouldn't have won this match logically, and Lesnar was too big to fail.
Raw Clean Sweeps Survivor Series. The fans are booing heavily at the end of this show.

Show Grade: C-. There were two very good matches to end this show, but this basically killed any interest I ever have in seeing SmackDown Live face off against Raw again. Every year, Raw just decimates SmackDown by the end of the show. 2016, it wasn't as bad. 2017, the Men's Survivor Series Match was the deciding match. This year, they basically just put the nail in the coffin to any thought that SmackDown Live was seen as an equal level show to Raw. Vince will ALWAYS see SmackDown Live as the B show, regardless of whether it is on Fox, NBC, Telemundo, or PBfreakingS.

By the way, I'm officially done with Survivor Series. This should be the last one. If you aren't going to do things to make both brands look good, you shouldn't do it period especially if they are under one corporate umbrella. It doesn't make a damn bit of sense in terms of marketing, live events, or merchandising. Why should I watch SmackDown? Those losers all got destroyed by Raw. Instead of building up brands, WWE spends one night a year reminding us why one is clearly inferior to another.

Until next time, take care of yourselves. Spread some awesomeness.

UnWrest Focus REWIND: Vader vs. Cactus Jack (WCW Halloween Havoc, 10/24/1993)

Spin the Wheel, Make The Deal. That was the gimmick going into this iconic match between two of the hardest hitting wrestlers of all time. It was the storyline months in development: Cactus Jack had just returned after Vader mauled him with a battery of injuries and a concussion to get his revenge. Vader, a merciless monster who delivers pain and punishment to all his vicitms, faced Cactus Jack, the one guy who would take Vader's assault and like the orphan Annie would ask for more. And if Vader wanted to brawl, no one could take Vader's offense and return it in spades quite like Cactus Jack. So, WCW billed the match as "Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal." The idea being that the actual stipulation of the match would be determined on Halloween Havoc by the spin of a big wheel. (If only wrestling could take the "Big Wheel" from The Price is Right. And of course, we'd have to make sure it goes all the way around.) So, the wheel landed that night on a Texas D

WCW Spring Stampede 1994 Review- WCW At Its Best + Flair/Steamboat In Another Classic

It's WCW in early 1994. We're now working up the hype for the eventual debut of Hulk Hogan to the company. This seems like the final last gasp of what WCW was prior to Hogan's debut with the company. Tonight, we are getting WCW World Champion Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat 5 years after their classic feud (covered on UnWrest Focus earlier). We are also getting International World Champion Ravishing Rick Rude vs. Sting. We also have Steve Austin defending his U.S. Championship against The Great Muta! And Cactus Jack and Maxx Payne go to war with The Nasty Boys in a Chicago Street Fight. Here we go! Mean Gene Okerlund welcomes us to the show as fireworks go off. We're in the Rosemont Horizon in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. Aaron Neville sings the National Anthem holding on to as many harmonies and vowels as he can. Tony Schiavone and Bobby Heenan put over the main event. 1) Johnny B. Badd vs. Diamond Dallas Page (w/ Diamond Doll) Badd comes out dressed like
