UnWrest (MLW, 11/16/18)- Chicago Street Fight Delivers!

With this week being a crazy Thanksgiving week, I've decided to just post whatever I have done throughout the week as soon as I have it done. This post was completed a few days ago, and I decided to go ahead and share it.

And here's the video in case you want to watch it:

MLW (11/16/18)
- They recap the end of last week's show where Low Ki bludgeoned the ear of Daga in order to help retain his MLW World Championship.  Then we see Salina, Low Ki, and Ricky Martinez in the back run into Konnan. Low Ki tells Konnan he's loving adding all these trophies of Konnan's failures to his mantle. And that Konnan should face him 1 on 1 so he can collect his biggest prize. Konnan tells him that match would be 10 years too late, and he's not fighting him. After some jabbering back and forth, we get to our opening match.

- Ricky Martinez wrestles in an exhibition match against someone who doesn't even get a proper introduction. Rex Bacchus (sp?) is the guy's name apparently. Martinez makes short work of him with some high-impact maneuvers, including what looked to be a Razor's Edge into a piledriver for the win.

- Size Matters (Joey Ryan and Swoggle) take on The Dirty Blondes. Ryan tore his pec muscle the previous night. He is working in a sling. The Dirty Blondes jump them and start laying in the boots to Swoggle. Eventually, Swoggle picks up the win for his team with Ryan being very limited in what he was able to do obviously with the torn pec. You have to hand it to Ryan for working the match in any capacity after having that injury.

- Konnan announces that he is coming out of retirement to fight Low Ki. He knows he shouldn't win, but he is going to beat up Low Ki.

- The main event is a Chicago Street Fight between Tom Lawlor and Sami Callihan. This was a war from beginning to end. The first 3-4 minutes all take place in the entrance area with them just bashing each other to hell with garbage cans and other things. Then, they get to ringside and continue the onslaught with chairs. Callihan nailed Lawlor with a snap piledriver on the apron. There's a "Use my sign" moment in this match, and unlike that overhyped match between Gargano and Ciampa in Chicago a few months earlier, this wasn't a ridiculous street sign brought in past security by a fan. (I'm sorry. But I'll take a paper sign attack spot compared to the ultra-ridiculous "fan sneaking a STOP sign into an arena" spot any day of the week. So this was already a better match in my opinion.) Later after putting Lawlor through a small table and putting a spike in his mouth, Callihan uses the sign to rip at the mouth of Lawlor.
To tell you how insane this got, a friggin VHS tape was destroyed with the film inside used to choke Lawlor. More brawling goes on after this with some good near falls for Callihan. The finish is really good here as well: Lawlor gets a rear naked choke on Callihan. Callihan backs both men through a table in the corner to break it up. But Lawlor reapplies the hold and takes a piece of a broken baseball bat to the throat of Callihan while in the hold to force the submission. A great, great finish to this show.

After the match, Simon Gotch takes Tom Lawlor backstage and tells him he deserves what's about to happen. Lawlor thinks it is going to be a press conference, but it's Low Ki, the rest of his stable,  AND A BETRAYAL! Gotch set him up! And the last thing we see is the stable with weapons. Gotch closes the door behind him and smiles as we're left to imagine what they are doing to Lawlor.

For the second week in a row, the best thing about MLW is its main event. And this was an absolute great match to end the show on. If you have the chance to spend 20+ minutes on a hardcore/ECWesque match, this is worth the watch.

WWE Evolution Predictions + Thoughts on An Underpromoted All-Women PPV

Credit: WWE WWE Evolution Promotional Poster This should feel like a bigger deal. After all, this is the first time ever that an All-Women PPV is taking place under the WWE corporate umbrella. But WWE has done a great job of completely killing the show with an uninspired card, lack of promotion, lack of interest overall, and finding a million different other things to promote to undermine the event. Still, some fans (like myself) want to give the women their due and hope to enjoy this show. Here's a rundown of the card and my predictions for each match: 1) Raw Women's Championship: Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Nikki Bella If this goes longer than 5 minutes, it's definitely too long. As good as Nikki can be in the ring (at times), Rousey should just absolutely massacre her. The only ways to prolong this match in a realistic way would be 1) an injury angle or 2) Twin Magic with Brie interfering. Otherwise, this should be short and awesome. Prediction: Ronda Retains 2)...

WWE TLC 2018 Review- Tables and Ladders and Chairs, Oh My!

HERE WE GO!    Pre-Show   1) WWE Cruiserweight Championship   Buddy Murphy (champ) vs. Cedric Alexander   They started this match early. Apparently, they wanted just as many fans in the arena as there usually are in 205 Live matches for this to give it the authentic feel.   The bell rings. A lot of tie-ups and switches to start up the match to a good reaction from the crowd. A Loud 205 Chant. Alexander takes down Murphy to the floor. Really good back and forth action here with both men moving quickly. Alexander catches Murphy with a dropkick for a 2 count. BIG KNEE to the head of Alexander sends him to the floor. Murphy flies off the top rope and hits a Meteora (maybe that’s what they were going for?) for a 2 count. Murphy has the advantage for a few moments, including a power choke on the corner on Alexander. He jumps off it to eat a SUPERKICK to the chest. Crowd seems invested in the matc...

WWE Super Show-Down 2018 Review: Last Time Ever Delivers + Some Other Solid Matches

Another big show in the WWE this year will happen today as WWE comes from Melbourne, Australia in front of 70,000 people. A lot of big matches are happening here. Let's Do This! No Pre-Show today. It's straight to the show. The new WWE opening takes place, and we get a WWE video package putting over the show and the LAST TIME EVER match. It looks like the Raw Announce Team will be calling the show. We go to the arena, and they've already spent more money on fireworks than they have for WWE programming this year. 70,309 in attendance. For once, the entrance way is understated. 1) SmackDown Live Tag Team Championship The Bar vs. The New Day (c) I wonder if Vince/WWE Management is ordering people to run the aisle tonight. Both tag teams were doing that coming to the ring.  Nice back and forth action with Kingston and Cesaro, along with Woods after getting the tag. Woods and Kingston had an awesome sequence of moves to start off. The Bar a minute later catches bot...
